Job Responsibilities:

The General Manager (GM) is responsible to oversee all aspects of the property in accordance with our core principles of clean, safe, affordable and simple.  A driving goal is to grow revenue by assuring a 100%  occupied hotel at the budgeted sign rate, thus exceeding the budgeted net operating income while maintaining operational and guest service standards; including the maximization of financial performance, guest satisfaction, and staff development within established Brand Standards. The GM is responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of all hotel staff.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Reviews revenue results to plan each day, ensures maximum yield on the rented rooms and ancillary services
  • Trains staff to consistently offer amenities, products and services in order to accommodate guest’s needs and increase revenues. 
  • Assures Guest Service Representative always uses the phone script and Revenue Builder Scorecard process.
  • Authorizes direct bill accounts and monitors the administration of Accounts Receivable.  Sends National Accounts leads to corporate office.
  • Maintains AWR to target by controlling discounts and assures rental payments are made on time and that guests who are delinquent are evicted from their room
  • Develops and maintains rapport with competitive properties, City Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, lead sources, clients, etc. Responsible for knowing area attractions and services in order to accommodate guest’s needs.
  • Monitors the performance of the hotel through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction systems (Medallia, Trip Advisor, etc.) and internal reports. Initiates corrective action.


  • Creates an operating environment that assures consistent guest satisfaction, meets with and solicits comments from guests on a regular basis to determine their level of satisfaction with guest services and facilities. 
  • Maintains hotel operations consistent with CLEAN & SAFE guidelines and Brand Standards, inspects rooms daily to assure all rooms are guest ready when the guest checks in
  • Performs the Daily Checklist, documents all of the action by staff to assure CLEAN & SAFE operations
  • Completes the daily audit, makes deposits, reviews and approves transmittals and other front office paperwork and reports.
  • Inspects studios daily according to quality standards for cleanliness and proper preventative maintenance, maintains the property without KCDs, and submits routine requests for capital improvement for the property.
  • Responsible for knowing property emergency procedures. OSHA Workplace Standards, and ensures all team members are trained to act in a safe manner at all times and what to do in the event of an emergency or accident at the property.
  • Ensures a viable key control program is in place in all property departments, with documentation.
  • Establishes and maintains a pro-active human resource function to ensure a fully staffed hotel, and that employee selection, onboarding, motivation, training and development, wage and benefits administration, are always in compliance with established labor regulations.
  • Responds to requests from immediate supervisor.  Follows-up with immediate supervisor on a regular basis, responds timely to QARSE inspections.  
  • Reviews daily front office procedures and assures proper transmission of all necessary information to the Value Place Corporate Office.
  • Ensures proper uniform standards are followed
  • Understands the government regulations affecting hotel’s operations, ensuring hotel is operated in compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements of any federal, state or municipal authority.



  • Absent extraordinary prior on-the-job experience, the General Manager position requires a High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and preferably either a two year business degree or a four year business or liberal arts degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Requires an occupationally-significant combination of vocational education, apprentice training, on-the-job training, and essential experience in less responsible hotel skill level and management positions.  
  • Strong personal communication skills
  • Must have own vehicle, valid driver’s license
  • Three-five years’ experience with PMS, prefer Nitevision, familiar with MS Office Suite,
  • Can write routine reports, correspondence, business letters, summaries, and reports in English using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
  • Ability to speak effectively in English before groups such as customers or employees

Physical Requirements:

  • Working hours are 8:00 A.M. — 6:30 P.M. Monday through Friday, and on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week.


  • Due to company’s staffing model, the General Manager must be able to fill in for any position at the property this includes:
    • Lifting up to 50 lbs with frequent lift/carry up to 25 lbs
    • Bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching, walking, lifting, and pushing/pulling
    • Frequent time spent standing
